Fukuoka Prefecture

1) Hakata

Fukuoka (福岡)
Fukuoka (福岡) is Kyushu's largest and one of Japan's ten most populated cities. Because of its closeness to the Asian mainland (closer to Seoul than to Tokyo), Fukuoka has been an important harbor city for many centuries and was chosen by the Mongol invasion forces as their landing point in the 13th century.
Today's Fukuoka is the product of the fusion of two cities in the year 1889, when the port city of Hakat

Dazaifu (大宰府)
Dazaifu (大宰府) was established in the late 7th century and served as the administrative center of the entire island of Kyushu for over 500 years. The city was built slightly inland from Hakata, whose port was one of the main points of interaction between Japan and mainland Asia. Although the imperial court ruled the country from the Kansai Region, Dazaifu was pivotal for Japan's diplomatic relations and organizing the country's defenses.

Kitakyushu (北九州, Kitakyūshū, lit. "North Kyushu")
Kitakyushu (北九州, Kitakyūshū, lit. "North Kyushu") is the northernmost city of Kyushu and has been an important hub for both land and marine traffic since olden times. It is the gateway between Honshu and Kyushu, as well as an important port for international trade. The city was formed in 1963 with the merger of five independent cities, namely, Kokura, Moji, Yahata, Tobata and Wakamatsu. It is very much an industrial city, contributing to the manufacturing capabilities of Japan.

Nagasaki Prefecture

Nagasaki (長崎) X
Nagasaki (長崎) is an attractively situated port city on the island of Kyushu and the capital of Nagasaki Prefecture.
As one of Japan's closest port cities to the Asian mainland, Nagasaki has played a prominent role in foreign trade relations for many centuries and was the most important of only a very few ports open to restricted numbers of foreign traders during Japan's period of isolation. In more recent history, Nagasaki became the second city after Hiroshima to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the end of World War II.

Kumamoto Prefecture

2) Kumamoto 熊本市

Kurokawa Onsen (黒川温泉)

Oita Prefecture
Oita Prefecture is located on the eastern coast of Kyushu. Prefectural capital is Oita City. Just north of Oita City is Beppu, one of Japan's most famous hot spring resports.

Yufuin (由布院 as onsen resort, 湯布院 as city)

Beppu
Beppu (別府) is one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts, producing more hot spring water than any other resort in the country.
Beppu offers an unmatched range of baths to be enjoyed, including ordinary hot water baths, mud baths, sand baths and steam baths. In addition, the Hells of Beppu are several spectacular hot springs for viewing rather than bathing.

Kagoshima Prefecture

3) Kagoshima 鹿児島
